Boujie Chinese food always throws me for a loop, unless I’m eating it in China or Hong Kong. I’ve always thought that Western renditions should be contained in dark, dingy mom&pop shops, with no dish being more than $20 (unless it’s immaculately prepared Peking Duck or some kind of seafood craziness). I told my mom about my hesitation to try Philippe Chow’s and she scolded me for having no taste. In so many words, she said that I need to step my game up, indulge in some better Chinese cuisine and elevate my standards. LOL!!! I guess not being in college anymore means not having the excuse to eat ramen or thousand year egg congee every day for weeks on end.
